1. i actually like to write!
seems obvious, but i've always loved to write! from articles to short stories to song lyrics. it's always been the thing that brings me joy (or sometimes utter sadness depending on the vibe). i started writing poems specifically at about 15, in the notes app. and then i just decided to write all my poems out and realised there was potential for a book! you have to really enjoy writing and you will have to write and edit a lot! if you do enjoy it, that's the perfect base for starting and the most important step :)
2. find what you could do to be different
my poetry book is designed for people to re-learn poignant life lessons we forget as we grow up. it's a journey through nature, love, reality and yourself! find you're own niche, or theme and then you can go from there.
3. write your poetry!
this takes a lot of time and editing but it is so exciting to watch your collection build!
4. find a publisher
i self-published using bookvault as it was the best option for me! simple research can be done to decide what's best for you! i chose bookvault (publishing and distribution) as it
gives you ownership of the title!
you have complete ownership of your title if you choose to self-publish though bookvault
they put you on external websites
it's inexpensive
shipping benefits
reports
it's important to remember self-pulishing is a procress that atkes time. additional costs include using external apps to create the actual book (sizing and margins) as well as the cover pages and spine design.
there are a range of different options for publishing so make sure you find what's best for you and your budget.
5. extra bits
as mentioned above, there are hidden extras. you just have to try and take it as it comes.
6. put it out there!
publish it! this will be a moment full of pride. everything you've worked for is going to be a reality. but, don't stop there! make sure you tell all your family and friends and get the word out!!
best of luck <3
